Pioneer, engineer and successful entrepreneur Walter Reist laid the foundations of Ferag AG 50 years ago. His idea to automate the mailroom was to revolutionize the production of print media.

1955

Walter Reist patents the first smudge-free conveying system.

1956

Installation of the first prototype at Tages-Anzeiger in Zurich.

1957

Foundation of Ferag AG on 10 July.

1963

Relocation from Dietlikon to the new building in Hinwil.

1963

Pravda and Isvestia in Moscow install mailroom systems from Ferag.

1976

Successful commissioning of single-copy gripping technology and rotary processing at the Stuttgarter Zeitung.

1986

Murdoch and Maxwell award major contracts for integrated inserting systems in the UK and Australia.

1990

Entry into industrial-scale magazine production with rotary gatherer-stitcher and trimming technology.

1996

Launch of the new inserting drum generation with the MultiSertDrum.

1997

The company passes into the next generation with Susanne Rau-Reist and Gerd Rau.

2002

First use of RollStream and JetFeeder for multiple inserting of preprints, inserts, magazines and CDs.

2006

News International in London, Manchester and Glasgow invest in 19 high-speed conveyor and bundling systems from Ferag.

2008

Launch of EasySert, which is ideal for multiple insertion into weekly titles, freesheets and daily newspapers.

2010

Ferag establishes a second important line of business by entering the direct-mail business.

2011

Ferag launches the navigator, a revolutionary control technology.

2013

Ferag establishes a further area business by entering intralogistics.

2014

For the first time, Ferag appears at the logistics trade fairs Interpack in Düsseldorf and Cemat in Hannover.
