The e-commerce boom is turning Denisort and Denisort Compact into “best-sellers”
Question:
What sets Ferag’s highly efficient system solutions apart? Which aspects of intralogistics does Ferag cover?
Answer:
Our sorting, distribution and material flow solutions are completely modular and can be used in a number of different ways thanks to their system layout. The range of applications includes online shipping, the distribution of postal items, second packaging for food production and the installation and buffering of automotive components. Whether the machine involved is a Deniway, Easychain, Denisort or Skyfall system, our approach always follows the same principle: each system is designed on the basis of the goods being conveyed and the individual material flow process in order to provide customers with a solution that is as efficient, flexible and reliable as possible. Our engineers are able to do this even when a building’s existing layout places tight constraints on process optimization. Our systems can also be scaled without any problem.
Question:
Is there a trend when it comes to scalability? How important is this aspect for customers?
Answer:
In view of the short-term changes and trends we are seeing at the moment, this aspect is playing an increasingly large role for many customers. This is true not only for customers in the fast-paced e-commerce sector, but for industrial customers as well. For example, automotive suppliers need to be able to easily adapt their storage and material flow systems to changing conditions (increased production, model changes, etc.) in order to be able to continue supplying OEMs with just-in-time and just-in-sequence parts on time.
Question:
How do things look with respect to sustainability and climate protection? What do Ferag’s products have to offer in this regard?
Answer:
Many of our products are already “green” in terms of their design and their technology. For example, the Denisort and Denisort Compact modular sorting and distribution systems are both based on the “rolling, not sliding” principle. This concept is a feature of most of Ferag’s intralogistics systems and contributes to their optimal CO2 footprint. Our conveyor technology, which uses maintenance-free rollers with ball bearings, practically operates itself. Radial force and sliding friction are no match for our technology. As a result, the systems we develop and build are able to take care of even tight curves and heavy loads smoothly, gently and easily. At the same time, the amount of energy used is reduced to a minimum. For this reason, our systems are able to operate with just a few drives. This has a positive impact not only on the operating costs, but also on the environmental footprint.
Question:
Which Ferag system is most highly reflective of this? Where can customers see these points especially well?
Answer:
Our Skyfall pouch sorter, which also uses roller bearing technology, is an especially good example of high energy efficiency, as it was designed to enable long downhill stretches to operate without drives and only using gravity. This means that the individual hangers with the pockets on them roll silently on steel rails, as if by magic.
Question:
Which solutions have seen the greatest demand from customers so far this year? What are your current “best-sellers”?
Answer:
Without a doubt, the “best-sellers” at Ferag at the moment are the Denisort and Denisort Compact sorting and distribution systems. These two products have enabled us to respond optimally to the online boom that was further boosted by the coronavirus pandemic. Our Denisort tilting tray sorter kills three birds at once. Thanks to its robust and proven design, it can be used seamlessly for conveying, order picking and sorting. And it can do so even in the third dimension. Thus, the Denisort not only allows a continuous flow of materials across several levels, but also fully meets intralogistics requirements in the e-commerce segment. And the smaller Denisort Compact, which was designed for conveying or sorting smaller items weighing up to 12 kilograms, can be implemented very quickly – for managing returns, for example. In addition, the tilting trays, which can be opened on both sides if needed and ensure that the material being sorted is handled safely and gently, are used by postal service providers as well – because Denisort is ideally suited for handling residual post. The system is also superbly equipped to meet the challenges of the future as well. For example, Denisort systems can easily be connected to upstream and downstream processes via automated solutions, including with the help of DTS.
