Efficient conveying for mineral water bottling plant in challenging urban environment

The Swiss company Ferag AG has installed a record-breaking Deniway system at Bisleri, India’s largest mineral water bottler, in the megacity of Mumbai. Two lines convey filled and packaged PET bottles from an upper-floor filling station to the shipping area below. The 20-metre descent makes this the tallest spiral conveyor ever implemented by Ferag. The compact, space-saving system with a capacity to process up to 6,000 packaging units per hour.

Challenge / Project goal

  • Space saving conveying over five storey (20m) “vertical” production plant
  • Conveying from two production floors to three truck loading and storage floors
  • Handling of four different size PET bottle shrink-packs plus 5l & 20l individual bottles
  • Throughput rates with up to 100 SKU’s per minute / 6‘000 SKU‘s per hour
  • Highest reliability under heavy loads
