Patent of the first lubrication-free conveyor system registered by Dr. h.c. Walter Reist.
The foundation of Ferag AG was laid more than 65 years ago by the pioneer, engineer, and successful entrepreneur Dr. hc. Walter Reist.
His idea of automating the mailroom revolutionized print media production.
1956
Installation of the first prototype at the Tages-Anzeiger in Zurich
1957
Ferag AG is established
1963
Relocation from Dietlikon to Hinwil and occupation of the new building.
Pravda and Izvestia, in Moscow, install Shipping Room Systems from Ferag.
1976
Successful commissioning of single drum technology and rotary processing at the Stuttgarter Zeitung
1986
Murdoch and Maxwell place major orders for integrated insertion systems in the UK and Australia.
1990
Entry into the industrial era – Font production with rotary saddle stitching and cutting technology.
1997
With Susanne Rau-Reist and Gerd Rau, the company transitions on to the next generation.
2002
First application of RollStream and JetFeeder for multiple insertion of forms, inserts, magazines and CDs.
2006
News International in London, Manchester and Glasgow invests in 19 high-speed transportation and packaging systems from Ferag.
2008
EasySert, suitable for multiple insertion of weekly papers and free advertising, is launched and opens the doors to the direct marketing business.
2011
With the Navigator, Ferag is developing a revolutionary control technology.
2014
Ferag launches the Skyfall overhead conveyor system, a further development of the Ferag processing systems developed for print media production, and presents it for the first time at the logistics trade fairs Interpack in Düsseldorf and CeMAT in Hanover.
2018
Consolidation of all subsidiaries under the Ferag umbrella brand.
2021
Sofel AG becomes a 100% subsidiary of Ferag AG, founded with a focus on the development and consulting of software solutions.
2023
Ferag acquires the Australian warehouse automation software provider dereOida Pty Ltd and offers its customers a system based on artificial intelligence and machine learning that provides a comprehensive overview of all warehouse processes and enables the integration of a wide range of technologies.
2025
Ferag has been restructured into two independently operating entities: Ferag GraphiX, focusing on the graphic arts industry, and Ferag Solutions, dedicated to intralogistics and automation. This strategic move ensures targeted innovation and enhanced customer service in both fields.
